Ronald E. McNair High School, a competitive magnet school in Jersey City, has been required by the Department of Justice to dismantle their race based admissions. This could serve to put already disadvantaged students of color at a further disadvantage. New Jersey is the third least racially equal state in the country for education despite being the fourth most diverse state, and more then 10% less students of color graduate to their white counterparts.
Since 2024, data centers have taken the world by storm. Urban New Jersey is no exception, as multiple town councils have approved data centers in recent years. If your town is considering adding a data center, attending council meetings is the primary way to protest them.
