Niveen Ghoneim

Niveen Ghoneim is a Jersey City-based journalist with more than five years of experience in international and U.S. newsrooms. She has covered the Massachusetts legislature and the Connecticut General Assembly, reporting on budgets and policy debates. She currently covers immigration and public policy in New York and New Jersey, with a focus on how government decisions affect underserved communities. Internationally, she has reported on human rights abuses in the Middle East and North Africa, covering Egypt’s crackdown on freedom of expression, LGBTQ+ rights in Tunisia and climate justice in Lebanon. Fluent in English, Arabic, and French, her work spans print, video, audio, and photojournalism. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University, with concentrations in investigative reporting, data analysis, and documentary filmmaking.
