New Jersey LCV, Sierra Club, and CRAN, Correct the Record on Trump Environmental Lies

In advance of Donald Trump’s planned rally in Wildwood, New Jersey LCV Executive Director, Ed Potosnak, Director of New Jersey, Sierra Club Director, Anjuli Ramos-Busot, and Ben Dziobek, Executive Director, Climate Revolution Action Network, issued the following statements:

“Governor Murphy and legislative Democrats have embraced a clean energy future because offshore wind will save lives by shutting down dirty power plants choking our air with pollution and harming public health. Responsibly developed offshore wind is a key part of that plan because it will address climate change which is the greatest threat to our oceans as well as creating good union jobs in communities across our state even as it reduces our reliance on dirty fossil fuels that pollute the air and aggravate asthma and heart conditions in our most underserved communities.

Voters in New Jersey definitively rejected the fossil fuel-funded lies of offshore wind opponents last election, and we expect that Trump’s appearance in New Jersey will highlight what we already know: Trump’s opposition to offshore wind is meant to keep his Big Oil donors happy at the expense of the health and economic well-being of New Jersey families.”

“We need elected officials to stop politicizing our clean energy transition and the technologies and tools that are going to give us better public health, more jobs, and a chance at better resiliency against severe weather and climate change. The future of our communities is on the line if we do not take drastic action now. Trump’s irresponsible game of positioning non-fossil fuel energy as a threat to the public is just self-interest and is a lie to the very people we need to protect.”
