Police are investigating a mass shooting at a Union Township that left one dead and six injured at a Chick-Fil-A.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday at the fast food chain on Route 22. Masked people entered the restaurant, moved behind the counter, and opened fire. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office said that no arrests have been made and that those injured were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill released the following statement Sunday morning, saying that the preliminary investigation shows “this does not appear to be a random act of violence and that there is no immediate ongoing threat to the general public.”

“We encourage the community to remain vigilant and report any information to local law enforcement. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by phone at 908-654-TIPS (8477) or online at www.uctip.org,” said Sherrill. “New Jersey stands with the Union Township community.”

This is the 100th mass shooting this year alone, according to reporting by The Guardian.
