“We are excited to start this new chapter of growth at Queen City Academy Charter School. Our dedication to preparing students for college and encouraging them to seek higher education has always been our top priority,” said Danielle West-Augustin, Chief Executive Officer of Queen City Academy Charter School. “And this expansion is more than just an increase in enrollment. It also includes a major building renovation project at our current location on West Seventh Street. The new building will give us the infrastructure we need to continue broadening opportunities and unlocking paths so that our scholars will be able to achieve their aspirations.”

The expansion comes at a time when there is a crucial need for more seats in schools and when there is a need to continue making up for the learning losses American schoolchildren all over the country experienced during the COVID pandemic.

QCACS was the first charter school in the City of Plainfield and it has consistently outperformed other schools in the region. Currently, it is ranked among the top 15% of schools in New Jersey that “exceeds standards” in student academic growth. With a focus on academic rigor and a culturally responsive curriculum, the school has not only met but exceeded the expectations set forth by its community. Its dedication to fostering a supportive environment that celebrates diversity and inclusivity has been instrumental in shaping the success of its students.

“‘For us, by us’ has been the guiding principle behind QCACS since its inception. As a community school, QCACS has built a supportive network that gives students the education they need to be ready for college, and equips them with the skills and knowledge to help them thrive in an increasingly diverse society,” said Karen Oliver Moore, President of the QCACS Board of Trustees. “Our community has played a pivotal role in shaping the success of Queen City Academy Charter School and we remain committed to our roots as a community-driven organization.  We’re excited about our future in our new facility where we will be able to provide our legacy of academic excellence to even more children.”

The new facility, which will have state-of-the-art amenities, will be connected to the school’s current location, preserving the sense of community that has been cultivated over the years.
