Four Charged After Fatal Street Racing Crash On Garden State Parkway In New Jersey

Four charged after a fatal Woodbridge street racing crash, including a driver who fled and tried to leave the country.

Four people have been charged in connection with a fatal street racing crash in Woodbridge, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

The crash occurred around exit 130 on the Garden State Parkway on the evening of June 29.

Investigators say a BMW X3 and a BMW M5 were racing when the BMW X3, driven by 20-year-old Alvi Limani of Staten Island, struck two other vehicles and rolled over multiple times. Two passengers in the BMW X3, 20-year-old Albion Hysenaj and a 21-year-old, also from Staten Island, were ejected.

Hysenaj was later pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and the other victim suffered serious injuries.

Authorities report that Limani and another passenger, 19-year-old Emily Harrington of Staten Island, fled the scene on foot after the crash. Limani allegedly attempted to leave the country, traveling to Miami, Florida, with his mother, 42-year-old Vilma Vneshta. Both were apprehended by law enforcement near Miami and will be extradited back to New Jersey.

Prosecutors have charged Alvi Limani with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide and knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and multiple additional counts, including endangering others and driving with a suspended license.

Emily Harrington faces charges of hindering, obstruction, and conspiracy. Limani’s mother, Vilma Vneshta, is charged with hindering. Jeter Ogando, a 23-year-old from Perth Amboy who allegedly drove the BMW M5, also faces charges, including vehicular homicide and assault by auto.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with further information or surveillance footage to contact the Holmdel Station Criminal Investigation Office at (732) 441-4500, ext. 7425, or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3140.
