Serious Crash Under Investigation

Monday, December 2, 2024, at approximately 1:32 A.M., authorities responded to Route 1 North and Parsonage Road following a crash report.

Upon their arrival, officers located two vehicles; one was occupied by Diego Mejia, 39, of Edison, along with his wife Jessica Naranjo, 35, of Woodbridge, and Mr. Mejia’s 15-year-old daughter. Mr. Mejia sustained severe injuries but is in stable condition.

Both Mrs. Naranjo and Mr. Mejia’s daughter sustained life-threatening injuries and are
currently in critical condition. The other vehicle was operated by Alyssa Figueredo, 31, of Cranford. Figueredo sustained minor injuries and was transported to JFK
Medical Center for Treatment.

An initial investigation led by Detective Chris Pitoscia of the Edison Police Department and Detective Ken McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Figueredo proceeded through a red light and struck the vehicle that Mr. Mejia drove.

Figueredo was charged with three counts of third-degree Assault by Auto and driving under the influence, along with other traffic violations.
