THIRD ANNUAL BLACK AUTHORS FESTIVAL: THREE DAYS OF ENTERTAINMENT, EMPOWERMENT, CULTURE, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Attendees from across the country are expected to once again turn out for the annual fundraiser. The event will be held at the Breakwater Yacht Club in Sag Harbor for the newly expanded three-day Festival, themed “The Power of Literacy.” 

The esteemed honoree line-up includes  Don Lemon, Sunny Hostin, Marc H. Morial, Alton White Fitzgerald, Harriette Cole, Kendis Gibson, Angelo Ellerbee, Pamela McBride, and Attika J. Torrence. The Festival will begin on Friday, August 1st with a private VIP event at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center, the honoring ceremony on Saturday, August 2nd at the Breakwater Yacht Club, and concluding on Sunday, August 3rd at the Sag Harbor Cinemas. Multi-Emmy-award winning journalist and PIX11 Anchor, Arrianee LeBeau hosts this year’s Festival.

It is incumbent upon us to protect our First Amendment Right, educate our youth about the power of literacy, while adding a bit of joy to our lives” says Darlene Williams, President of the Black Authors Festival. 

The Black Authors Festival will include Meet The Author Sessions, two celebrity panels, a birthday tribute, D9 toast, and a paddle-raiser fundraiser for A Father’s Love and the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center nonprofit organizations.  The Festival’s President along with Assemblymember Schiavoni, Town of East Hampton Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez, and other supportive elected officials will declare August as Black Authors Festival Month on the East End.
