Homicide Under Investigation
On Friday, February 28, 2025, at 12:14 P.M., Ashraf Tawfik, 60, of East Brunswick,
walked into the East Brunswick Police Department and reported that he killed his
wife.
Authorities responded to his residence on Yorktown Road and found Marsail
Botros, 58, of East Brunswick, unresponsive. Botros was pronounced deceased at
the scene.
Tawfik was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree Murder
and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-
degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Tawfik is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention hearing.
