PRESS CONFERENCE ON MLK MARCH OF RESISTANCE TO BE HELD ON KING’S BIRTHDAY

The People’s Organization For Progress (POP) is the sponsor for the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. March of Resistance, which 296 organizations have endorsed. 

The Martin Luther King March of Resistance will occur on Saturday, January 18th, starting at 12 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Statue, 495 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Newark. 

Some of the speakers at the press conference will include Rev. Timothy Adkins, Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church; Charles Hall, president of Local 108 Retail Wholesale Department Store Union UFCW AFL-CIO; Deborah Smith-Gregory, president of the Newark Branch NAACP; and Lawrence Hamm, chairman of the People’s Organization For Progress. 

There will be additional speakers from several of the other endorsing organizations. 

“We are marching on Saturday to demonstrate our determination to resist and fight against all efforts to further erode and erase the gains of the civil rights and other social justice movements in this country,” Hamm stated.
