CITY OF NEWARK REMINDS RESIDENTS THAT CITY HALL WILL BE CLOSED, ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 2025
Mayor Ras J. Baraka has reminded residents that City Hall will be closed, and most non-emergency Newark municipal services will be suspended on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in observance of New Year’s Day. Police, Fire, and other uniformed emergency services will be unaffected.
There will be no trash pick-ups on Wednesday, January 1. Trash pickup and paper recycling will resume on Thursday, January 2. Bulk pickup in Zone A will be suspended for the entire month of January and will resume on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
The Department of Health and Community Wellness’s inspection services, transportation for seniors, and health clinic will not operate on Wednesday, January 1. In addition, the Bureau of Vital Statistics will be closed. Residents cannot apply for permits, birth certificates, name-change certificates, or marriage licenses at City Hall, nor pay water or tax bills.
The Municipal Court will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1. Residents can make payments and pay parking and traffic tickets through the website www.njmcdirect.com. To utilize this website, residents will need their summons number, including the prefix, and the City of Newark’s court code, which is 0714.
