The Newark City Council Honors Anya Nawrocky for Over 20+ Years of Leadership in Public Health and Community Service
The Newark City Council recently issued a resolution commending Anya Nawrocky, Director of Member Experience and Growth at Wellpoint New Jersey, for her tireless dedication to improving public health across the state. With over 20 years of experience, Anya has played an instrumental role in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations through innovative health-focused initiatives and community partnerships, including her long-standing collaboration with the United Community Corporation (UCC).

Alongside recognition from the Newark City Council, Anya Nawrocky received the prestigious “Community Champion” award from the United Community Corporation (UCC), a vital nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities in Newark.Through its longstanding partnership with Wellpoint, UCC has played a pivotal role in advancing social services, housing assistance, and public health initiatives throughout the region.
Under Anya’s leadership, Wellpoint New Jersey has positively impacted more than 250,000 New Jersey residents through various programs and activities aimed at improving health outcomes. Her efforts have spanned critical areas such as workforce development, maternal health, food security, and health literacy. One of her most notable contributions is her leadership of Wellpoint’s Read Across New Jersey initiative, which provided thousands of students across the state with books and literacy resources. This program aimed to address educational disparities by equipping students in underserved communities with the tools they need to succeed academically, fostering a love for reading and lifelong learning.
