Serious Crash in Edison, NJ Under Investigation

On July 28, 2024, at approximately 8:13 P.M., authorities responded to Route 1 North and Old Post Road following the report of a multi-vehicle crash.

Upon their arrival, authorities located Alexander Teshima Chong, 44, of Belleville, who was operating a motorcycle at the time of the collision. Chong sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another motorcyclist a 44-year-old male suffered severe injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.

An initial investigation led by Detective Stephen Nappe of the Edison Police Department and Detective James Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the two motorcycles turned on to Route 1 North from Old Post Road and crashed into the rear of a BMW SUV.

The 44-year-old motorcyclistmwas ejected off his motorcycle. The operator of the BMW SUV sustained no injuries and was released from the scene.
