Murphy Administration Chief of Staff on Tax Proposals in Governor’s Fiscal 2025 Budget:
At the May 22 breakfast in East Windsor, she provided an update on two tax proposals: the Corporate Transit Fee tax on large companies and the buck-a-truck tax on trucks that carry goods to and from warehouse in New Jersey. The New Jersey Chamber, along with other business groups, have been vehemently opposing the proposed taxes, arguing they would make New Jersey less competitive.
“For the next five weeks, there will be some intense conversations,” Gutierrez-Scaccetti said of the budget negotiations between the Murphy administration and legislative leaders as they approach the June 30 deadline to adopt a state budget.
Gutierrez-Scaccetti also thanked the chamber for supporting the recent renewal of the Transportation Trust Fund, which will pay for highway, bridge and other infrastructure projects.

As “normal” the budget doesn’t address the issues of former state employees such as being promised an annual COLA adjustment upon retirement. However the legislature has given themselves a hefty raise. Past promises are being ignored (to retiree) .
