The Tony Award-Winning musical A Strange Loop dedicates a special night to honor Black theater as comedian, New York Times bestselling author, and Emmy Award-Winning host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah moderated a talkback for “Black Theater Night.”

Noah masterfully moderated the talkback by allowing the audience to gain some intriguing insight as he individually asked each cast and production member deep and insightful questions. “I have seen this show four times, and I feel as though I see something new every time,” Noah says as he points out the many layers of the show, “I believe this is how Broadway shows should be.”

With recently dedicating a spectacular night full of celebration and representation with “Big, Black and Queer Night,” the audience was treated to this extraordinary event celebrating Black Theater. Each cast member shared personal and insightful stories about their roles and the play’s meaning as the date drew closer to their final performance. The post-show talkback featured book writer Michael R. Jackson, choreographer Raja Feather Kelly and cast members.

After a hugely successful Off-Broadway run in 2019–it swept most of the New York theater awards. It also garnered the coveted Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2020. The musical made its debut on Broadway at the Lyceum Theater on April 26, 2022, picking up 11 Tony Nominations and winning two Tony Awards for “Best Musical” and “Best Book for a Musical.” A Strange Loop was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Musical Theater Album.” The special event comes as A Strange Loop is set to take its final bow on January 15, 2023.
