Newark Symphony Hall (NSH) hosted an exclusive fireside chat on Sept. 22 with Tina Knowles-Lawson. The mother of Beyonce Knowles-Carter sat down with Mikki Taylor, Essence magazine editor, Newark native and author of the recently released Audible original “Force of Beauty: A Newark Family Memoir,” to discuss Black women in arts leadership.
On top of hosting this event, Newark Symphony Hall (NSH) is partnering with WACO on a production titled “Black Terror” that will stream in December.
The event was conceived by NSH President and CEO Taneshia Nash Laird, who is the sole Black woman leading a performing arts center in New Jersey. A meal will be served to all invited guests. NSH’s Soul Line dancers will close out the hour-long event leading out guests to Knowles-Lawson’s daughter and Grammy Award-Winning Singer, Songwriter and Actress Beyonce Knowles-Carter’s song “Before I Let Go.”
